What is a permalink and why do I need it?

Answer

A permalink, or permanent link, is a stable URL that that will bring you directly back to your search result. When searching in the library catalog or databases, the URL at the top of your browser is only temporary for your current search. If you save the URL in your browser's address bar and then try to use it later to come back to an article you found, you will be disappointed!  If you need to return to a specific result or share that result with others, find the permalink.

Unfortunately, finding the permalink differs depending on what database you are using. To see how to find a permalink in EBSCO, ProQuest and other databases, see the library's guide to creating permalinks.
