What is Course Reserves? How do I use it?

Answer

Course Reserves gives students short-term access to textbooks, DVDs, and other physical learning materials made available by their instructor.

Electronic or online materials added by your instructor may be placed elsewhere or available in Canvas. Please contact your instructor for help finding electronic course materials.

To use Course Reserves simply go to the Course Reserves Desk on the 2nd floor and ask for the item you need.

  • Use your Student ID to check out an item.
  • Most items checkout for 3 hours.
  • You may renew it for another 3 hours, if no one else is waiting for the item.
  • Late fee for Course Reserves: $6 for the first hour and $1 for each additional hour that the item is late.

Is the textbook I need available in Course Reserves?

Maybe! You can search for books and other items placed on reserve by looking up your course number or instructor name in the library catalog. Not all instructors place books or materials in Course Reserves. If you don't see your materials, you can ask your instructor to consider making them available through Course Reserves.

Course Reserves for Instructors

Placing materials on reserve gives students alternative access to course materials that may be supplemental, expensive, difficult to obtain, or in high demand. See Course Reserves for Instructors for more information and to submit items to be made available to students through Course Reserves.
